What is Self-Love?

Self-Love is defined as, loving yourself or having a high regard for one's OWN happiness. It has been conceptualized as a human necessity. Self-love does not mean you have unrealistic expectations but rather the one thing in this entire universe that is connected to everything in your life. Without it, your physical and mental health can suffer.
Self-Love is not a luxury, it's not something that only certain people are capable of doing or accomplishing. We all need to incorporate it into our daily routines. It's a state of appreciation for oneself that grows from actions that support our physical, psychological and spiritual growth. Self-Love is taking care of your own needs WITHOUT sacrificing your well-being to please others and not settling for less than you deserve.
Practicing Self-Love
Starting at the beginning or going back to the basics can be so beneficial when trying to understand things and how to continue in a progressive state. So, now that we understand what Self-Love is, lets get into what exactly it looks and feel like and, TRUST ME, it's work!!! It's more than just applying your make-up to do a quick Tik-Tok, or posting a picture of yourself sipping on wine(for my adults). Sometimes Self-Love looks like:
Putting your phone down; disconnected from social media and everyone else's business.
Taking a "Mental Health" day from work. (Highly Recommended, Use that time!!!)
Listening to your bodies.
Buying your own self flowers.
Eating healthy, but sometimes indulging in your favorite foods.
Practicing Mindfulness with mediation and breathing exercises.
Self-Love is accepting yourself, as you are in this very moment, for everything that you are. It means accepting that your emotions, that way you feel, for what they are and putting your physical, emotional and mental health first.
Benefits of Self-Love
Self-Love motivates you to make healthy and sound choices in your life. There is a level of accountability that you hold yourself to. When you hold yourself accountable or in high esteem, you're more likely to choose things that nurture your well-being and that serves you well such as healthier eating, exercising and even your relationships. When you begin to practice Self-Love is will encourage you to start being more kind, patient, gentle and compassionate with yourself. Other benefits may include:
Less stress and anxiety. When we love ourselves, we are less likely to get trapped in self-denial due to current situations or minor failures. It also removed that fear of being rejected and thus reducing stress and anxiety.
Higher level of satisfaction; Because self-love strengthens our self-appreciation, it helps you to see the world in another way and you'd be more likely to enjoy the real happiness in your life; i.e., Love from your family and personal achievements.
Stronger Motivation
Health and Personal Growth. Growth is literally the best thing that happens on this journey of Self-Love. When you truly value yourself and care about your own well-being and happiness, you are less likely to allow negative and toxic relationships or even bad habits to stay in your space.
You must find a way to love yourself continuously even through mistakes, regrets and weaknesses. You are valuable and important and to be happy you must discover a path that will guide you to loving yourself. Self-Love and compassion are key for mental health and well-being, keeping depression and anxiety at bay. Everyone around you - not just you - benefits when you love yourself.
IT STARTS WITH YOU!!!
